Going old school with your wedding theme is ‘oh so sweet’ for a wedding bar or themed reception. With themes on the rise, adding a touch of vintage class can help you and your guests celebrate in style on a budget. Vintage wedding bars and receptions are all about simplicity, so that’s where you can save big by adding a few of these classy ideas for your sweet wedding day.

parlorDIY Ice Cream Parlour

Something sweet to eat that has old-fashioned and vintage written all over it is the ice cream parlour. Keep it simple, and just put out vanilla and chocolate ice cream with traditional toppings. For a lighter choice, frozen yogurt with fresh fruits are perfect.

Topping Ideas
  • Maraschino cherries
  • Meringues
  • Peanuts
  • Almonds
  • Pistachios
  • Chocolate Sauce
  • Caramel
  • Candy Sprinkles
  • Sliced Banana
  • Shredded Coconut
  • Chunks of White Chocolate

Pink Lemonade

Pink Lemonade is one very refreshing beverage to serve at your wedding. Serve it up in true vintage style mason jars. Put out little airplane vodka bottles, so you guests can spike it if they want to!

Super Low-Cal Pink Lemonade Recipe:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup Splenda
  • 3 cups fresh lemon juice
  • 3 lemons (sliced round for garnish)
  • 2 cups light or no-sugar cranberry juice.

Pour the water as hot as you can out of the tap. Dissolve Splenda in warm water. tubRefrigerate for 30 minutes to cool. In a pitcher or punch bowl, add lemon juice, cranberry juice and Splenda Simple Syrup. Fill with cold water, add lemon garnish slices. Serve within 3 days.

Soda Fountain

One of the most simple things you can do for your guests is provide cute vintage style soda pops. Simply scour your attic or your parents attic for vintage suitcases, wash basins, an old claw-foot bathtub, baskets (you can line these with shopping bags to keep ice from ruining them), or an old ladder.

Popcorn Bar

I know I’ve mentioned it before, but what a sweet treat for guests! This photo stole my heart. So, I had to share it!

Grab Bags

Instead of doing an entire candy or sweet shop, gift your guests cool little grab bags so they can take something sweet or salty home. This budget friendly treat is one of my favourite things to do for your special day. Simply craft bags from newspaper or buy some inexpensive brown paper bags for a truly vintage accent. For a vintage vibe, look for old fashioned candies, or stick with your wedding theme and get candy in your wedding colors.
