Maigen Thomas – Editor in Chief

Maigen Thomas, Editor in Chief - Wedding for $1000 - weddingfor1000.comI’m Maigen Thomas, and I started Wedding for $1000 after writing my first (and let’s be honest – not terribly good) book “Have a Wedding for $1000“. It was an expanded version of a very popular article I wrote when planning a wedding for less than $1000 to my first husband back in 2006. The most critical reviews on that book were my favorite – they essentially said: “There’s not enough detail!”

So Wedding for $1000 was started, and I threw myself into finding and sharing ideas for having a wedding on a small budget. I’ve since written two more short books (Wedding for $1000 – Getting Started and Planning a Wedding on a Small Budget) and I’m working on more in-depth books that focus on specific parts of wedding planning.

I live in beautiful Portland, Oregon spending my time, in addition to writing and managing the day-to-day running of Wedding for $1000, as a full-time UI/UX Designer and Front End Developer. I volunteer as a mentor with ChickTech to encourage teenage girls to explore STEM careers and I teach yoga when I have time (ha, you see how often that might be!)
