Every price on the site comes from a published price list, menu, or fee schedule we checked in 2026. If a range is wide, we'll tell you why, and if something's a bad deal, we'll say that too. And if a calculator would answer your question faster than an article, we'll just point you to the calculator.

What we believe

A wedding is one day, and the marriage is what you're really there for. Somewhere along the way those got mixed up, and couples started feeling like the size of the bill said something about how much they loved each other.

We think you should spend less on expectations and more on what matters: the people in the room, food that's warm and plentiful, photographs you'll actually look at, and a start to your marriage that doesn't begin with debt.

Some couples spend $1,000 because that's what they have. Others would rather put the rest toward a house, a trip, student loans, or nothing in particular. Either reason is plenty. What makes a $1,000 wedding feel special is that every dollar went somewhere you chose.

How we write about money

• Practical answer first, pretty pictures second.
• We include the annoying costs too, like licenses, ice, and delivery fees.
• If an idea has a catch, you'll hear about it up front.
• No DIY projects that need a skill you'd have to learn two weeks before the wedding.
• We never call anyone's wedding cheap.

Couples planning their own wedding, usually without a planner and often with a smaller guest list than their family would like. People marrying for the second time. People marrying quickly. People who are having a courthouse ceremony now and a party later. People who looked at a venue quote and quietly closed the tab.
