Splurges:

Photographer/Videographer

I am so happy that I decided to get both a photographer and videographer for my wedding. I have watched our wedding video a number of times and love looking back on photos of the big day.

Food/Alcohol

Since I think your guests are a big part of your wedding day, the food and alcohol selection should be decent. We had an open bar for our guests and it was a great addition to our wedding.

Dress

A dress is another thing that I definitely think you should splurge on. My dress wasn’t the most expensive one out there but it wasn’t cheap either. You want to purchase a dress that you feel absolutely amazing in because it’s your wedding day aka your day to feel beautiful.

DJ

I think good music is an essential for your reception. I wanted someone who would get people on the dance floor and that’s just what our DJ did.

Venue

The venue was another place I wanted to splurge on because I wanted to start with a beautiful canvas from the get go. Our venue was a southwestern style and had so many amazing features. Decorating my venue was easy because it was already so eye-catching by itself. We added some easy DIY uplighting and were totally set!

Saves:

Wedding Favors

We gave our guests koozies with our name and wedding date on them that were cute but also fairly inexpensive. We had already provided a great experience for our guests and didn’t feel the need to go all out in terms of spending for the favors since those will most likely get thrown away.

Cake

Another thing that we didn’t feel the need to splurge on was the cake. Although our cake was really good, we opted to keep it pretty simple in terms of decor because that would’ve hiked up the price quite a bit.

Invitations & Save the Dates

We got our save the dates from Vistaprint and our wedding invitations came from our venue. The invites were a little more pricey than our save the dates due to the weight but they definitely were not all that expensive either.

Flowers

Although I ended up getting real flowers, it is not something I think is necessary to splurge on. Faux flowers can look just as good at a fraction of the cost.

Your Turn:

I hope you enjoyed reading about my wedding splurges and saves and got some ideas on what you should and shouldn’t splurge on for your own wedding.
